Matt Babai joins Melburg as Investment Associate to support acquisitions push

Melburg announces the appointment of Matt Babai as Investment Associate.

This follows a busy period of activity for the firm, including the off-market acquisition of a 90,000 sq ft former Alanod logistics HQ in Milton Keynes and the disposal of Bradford’s Bekaert UK headquarters.

Babai will support Melburg’s London-based acquisition and management teams. He joins from MHA, where as Associate Director he led execution across mid-market M&A transactions, management buyouts, equity raises and complex debt structures. An ACA-qualified finance professional with eight years’ experience across the full transaction lifecycle, He is currently working through the RICS Certificate in Property Finance and Investment.

A spokesperson for Melburg commented: “Matt joins at the busiest point in the firm’s history. Milton Keynes was our fourth owner-occupier acquisition in six months and takes our logistics platform beyond 2.5 million sq ft, while our living business has grown to more than 2,500 beds. We have discretionary capital available to deploy today and several large-scale acquisitions in the pipeline. We look forward to Matt making a positive contribution as the firm continues to diversify and expand”

Matt Babai said: “Melburg’s research-led, highly discreet approach to real estate investment is exactly where I want to build my career after eight years advising on mid-market transactions. The platform’s track record of growth and market outperformance speaks for itself, and I’m looking forward to bringing my transaction and modelling background to the acquisitions and asset management teams as Melburg continues to deploy capital at pace through both the direct real estate business and venture capital arm.”
